Vanishing Act: Key Figures in Advanced Aerospace Research Disappear Amidst Funding Investigation
An investigation into the funding streams of former Air Force Research Laboratory commander Major General William Neil McCasland has uncovered a disturbing pattern of disappearances involving individuals central to advanced aerospace technology development. The inquiry, which traced McCasland's portfolio during his tenure from 2011 to 2013, revealed a direct link to Monica Jacinto Reza, a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) engineer and co-inventor of "Mondaloy," a critical superalloy for next-generation rocket engines. Reza's work was reportedly funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) under McCasland's command.
Further examination of the funding chain identified Dallis Hardwick, a senior civilian scientist at AFRL who served as Reza's mentor and was also part of the same program during McCasland's leadership. The implications of these connections are amplified by the subsequent fates of these individuals. Hardwick passed away from cancer in 2014, while Reza vanished from the Angeles National Forest in June 2025. Most recently, Major General McCasland himself disappeared from the Sandia foothills in February 2026. This sequence of events raises significant questions about the security of sensitive national security technologies and the potential loss of vital expertise.
